Oh how I adore this family. I’ve known them for years now, and I am so happy I have them in my life. We did a Documentary Family Session last week, and I spend the better part of an afternoon and evening with them, simply documenting how they live their normal, everyday life.
I talked with Carrie about how she thought the session went, and how it matched with her expectations. Let’s be honest. As moms in this Pinterest and Instagram society, we often strive for perfection, and when we don’t achieve it, or THINK we don’t achieve it, we’re disappointed. When I left her house that night, her kiddos had had just about enough and mom was frustrated, which, really, happens to all of us every night, right? So she had no expectation of getting great images out of the experience. But when we sat down to look through her images, all that doubt flew right out the window. Because I had captured her family as SHE sees them, day in and day out. The little details and the little arguments and the hugs and kisses and smiles and simple moments.
Carrie, I love you and your family! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my time with you.
